刚过完生日的“90后”袁隆平，一生致力于杂交水稻技术的研究、应用与推广。如今，袁老几乎每天还要去试验田“打卡”，观察杂交水稻长势。目前，他正在研究第四代杂交水稻，把光合效率提高30%，产量可达每亩1500公斤。他说，最大的愿望是把饭碗牢牢掌握在中国人自己手上。
24日，内蒙古乌兰浩特举行耐盐碱水稻现场测产验收评议会。此前袁老定下目标，盐碱地ph值达9，或盐度在0.6%时，亩产要在300公斤以上。此次大面积试种实测亩产508.8公斤，超过了袁隆平的“及格线”。

袁老还说，他还有两个梦想：提高杂交水稻的平均产量，并与世界分享水稻品种。
